On the morning of December 23, 2022, new Samsung Chairman Mr. Lee Jae-yong was in Hanoi to attend the inauguration ceremony of the research and development (R&D) center of Sam Sung group. It is known that through the construction of an R&D center in Vietnam, Samsung Group wishes to elevate Vietnam “beyond its role as a global manufacturing base, becoming a strategic base with top priority for research.” and large-scale development”. This also contributes to improving Vietnam’s industrial capacity in the era of industrial revolution 4.0.
The R&D center of Samsung in Vietnam was started in March 2020, located on a land area of 11,603 m2, focusing on research on artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), data Big Data, 5G network with an average of 1,300 employees working every day. With a total investment of 220 million USD, this is also Samsung’s largest R&D center in Southeast Asia. Sam Sung’s R&D Center is designed with 16 floors and 3 basements, total construction area is 11,603 m2, floor area is 79,511 m2.
Also at the inauguration event of Sam Sung’s R&D research and development center, Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Samsung opening an R&D Center in Vietnam is a testament to the company’s orientation and commitment to long-term operations in Vietnam. “Samsung is the largest Korean investor and also the largest foreign investor in Vietnam with a total registered investment capital of nearly 20 billion USD. Samsung’s effective operations in recent times have made important contributions to Vietnam in terms of export revenue, creating jobs, and paying taxes to the budget.”
The period 2023-2025 promises to continue to be a key investment period for Korean businesses in Vietnam, with a focus on long-term, sustainable investment and reaching new heights.
