Maneater – good shark simulator?
Love the film “Jaws” and always wanted to be in the skin of sharks? Or you will have the concept of the game depth, but online is not your? Well, or you are just bored and you want to relax a bit. Meet the shark game – maneater.
The game Maneater is an action (RPG is still written on Wikipedia, but this is not RPG) in the open world. Created the game Tripwire Interactive, and it was released under the publishing house Deep Silver in 2020. It came out on all relevant platforms (PC, the past and current generation PS and Xbox, Nintendo Switch), but Switch version delayed for a year and it was in this version that I played.
Big Pete and Road of Revenge
We play for a shark, pass training and do not touch anyone (well, almost), and here we are catching a big pet – a hunter for sharks. Well, he kills us, Game Over.
But it turns out inside our shark there is a small shark that Pete cuts out and wants to kill. Instead of death, the shark decided to bite off his hand and jump into the pond. And now we are waiting for the road of revenge, on the first cut scene the plot ends and ends. In the end, we will simply defeat Py and die ourselves (the death of the protagonist is not a hindrance to DLC. There will be no review on him). It is also worth mentioning that the whole game is the conditional season of the in -game series from which the name of the game has gone, but this does not change anything.
Is it interesting to be a shark?
The gameplay is quite ordinary. We just bit opponents, treasure them in the mouth and sometimes dodge. From the beginning it seems that the gameplay is interesting, but according to the results it is just to jam the enemy even without dumps and other chips.
Mutations and level system
The game has a level system and mutations. Getting https://nonukcasinosites.co.uk/casinos-not-on-gamstop/ new levels, our shark will grow to megalodon and will be able to jump high, hang out with people on land for a long time and break obstacles to obtain collection items. If everything is clear with the first, then the mutations are another matter. After eating all kinds of fish or people, we copy certain resources, and when completing tasks, we get the same mutations. Mutations are the improvements of our shark – you can put it bone teeth or electric tail, and it all pumps for those same resources. There are 3 sets of mutants and each in a fully assembled form gives a special ability.
Tasks and collection objects
The tasks in the game are quite boring – kill so many fish or people, and after killing the boss. Bosses are also not diverse (except for the final) – that people, that fish just have many CPs. But in the game there is quite good with collection items – there are cases with resources, car numbers (simply because all sharks love car numbers, because so?) and special places. The most interesting is special places, because there are a bunch of references and just jokes. It is not very convenient that there is no LOK for the target and I very often missed or biting the wrong enemy (in fact it is like it, but it works through the ass).
“Bad Glory”
Also, in the game for eating people, the water guard will attack you and the more people you pick up the next world, the stronger the guard will become. This system is called “bad glory” (why not a bad reputation as in infamous) and the higher it is – the stronger the enemies and at each level you fight with the boss.
I can also add that I did not feel the grind in the game (except for a pair of levels of bad glory) and this is good, and so there is nothing more to talk about.
Soundtrack, complexity and other
The soundtrack in the game … Well, this is ordinary music against the background, you forget about it in 5 minutes. In fact, the soundtrack should work, but I’m already used to the memorable soundtracks, and then boredom.
Soundtrack on YouTube.
The management is generally convenient, and the complexity is low (when collecting all collection items – just jamming of opponents).
Duration up to 10 hours (my 100% took 8 hours).
In general, the game on Switch goes normally – sometimes things in the kAT scenes do not have time to load, and the console is a little hot, but this happens in many games.
But what scared me enough so these are graphic artifacts. At first I thought that my console simply could not withstand the heat, but knowing that these artifacts can be seen in the screenshot, as well as that they are over the interface, then most likely it is a jamb of the game, not my console (there will be no screenshots, Sororyans).
“Green propaganda”
The game has a Russian language and voice acting, but the random cries of people are not re -sounded. Also, the game is all saturated with the idea that people pollute the ocean and all that, but there is nothing but words here. We do not play for some ocean purifier or something like that (thank God, I already had the Deep Dive Adventure-Simulator), we have a damn thing to play for a shark that eats people and this will not help the ocean. In general, the game can be held in 2 days and it is more or less cheerful at the beginning, but whether to spend your time to choose your time.
From the beginning, the game seems interesting, but after it becomes boring – the same tasks, a simple jamming of opponents, an uninteresting soundtrack and the lack of a plot. Well, at least the locations are made well, collectible objects are interesting and the game is more or less funny. If you go through it, you can get good emotions, but letting it go through it you will not lose anything.
